The Persian Shield variety of Strobilanthes features beautiful iridescent purple, green, and silver foliage. The long lanceolate leaves need bright, indirect light in order to maintain their shine and color. This variety can also produce small blue or violet flowers 

Basic Needs: Bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight in order to keep from scorching the leaves. A rich, well draining potting mix is preferred. These like to be consistently moist but not soggy. Make sure that they drain completely so no water will sit on the roots. Water when the top 1" of soil is dry. It can begin to droop if it's underwatered, but will bounce right back after a drink. High humidity is preferred as well, so give it some friends, a good mist, or a pebble tray if your indoor air is dry.
