Begonia, Conchifolia
Scientific Name: Begonia conchifolia
Common Name: Bullseye, Zip, Red Ruby Begonia
Begonias are beloved houseplants, primarily famous for their incredibly unique foliage variations and variegations, from polka dots to fuzzy (or spiky!) leaves. Begonias tend to be slightly high-maintenance, and are generally considered to be a little more advanced of a houseplant, but don't let that stop you from trying!
The Conchifolia Begonia features large, round, glossy leaves that have a vibrant ruby-red 'bullseye' where the stem meets the leaf. This varietal is known for its compact growth, reaching only 6-10" tall and wide.
Basic Needs: A high humidity of greater than 60% is required for these to thrive. Bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight in order to keep from scorching the leaves. PRO TIP: to grow a more evenly bushy begonia, rotate your pot every week so a different side is exposed to light-- this will encourage more even growth from all sides!
