Begonia, Abdullahpieei
Scientific Name: Begonia abdullahpieei
Common Name: Piee's Begonia
Begonias are beloved houseplants, primarily famous for their incredibly unique foliage variations and variegations, from polka dots to fuzzy (or spiky!) leaves. Begonias tend to be slightly high-maintenance, and are generally considered to be a little more advanced of a houseplant, but don't let that stop you from trying!
This Begonia was specially named for Abdullah Piee, a Malasian forest guide who contributed significantly to the study of begonias. It features stunning emerald green leaves, veined with a deep ruby-red. They typically grow very compact, reaching between 8-10" tall.
Basic Needs: A high humidity of greater than 60% is required for these to thrive. Bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct sunlight in order to keep from scorching the leaves. PRO TIP: to grow a more evenly bushy begonia, rotate your pot every week so a different side is exposed to light-- this will encourage more even growth from all sides!
