Scientific Name: Monstera karstenianum
Common Name: Monstera Peru

Named for their distinctive leaves ("monstera" in Latin translates to "strange"), these plants are native to rainforests in Central America, where the holes in their foliage offer more adaptability and resilience to natural elements like heavy rain and wind. True to their nature, monsteras are incredibly tough and durable plants (indoors and out) which is only one reason they've become a staple in the plant community. Wildly popular and widely loved around the world, these beautiful plants are easy to care for and carry an impressive and lasting visual impact. Mature monsteras can grow MASSIVE leaves, with a wide range of colorful variegations, fascinating foliage, and interesting growth patterns that are sure to inspire and amaze!

The Peru is a trailing Monstera variety with thick, dark green leaves and a unique quilted texture. Fast-growing and incredibly easy to care for, this plant is perfect for beginners looking to elevate their plant game!

Basic Care: Bright, indirect light. Water when top 2" of soil is dry, or when a few leaves are slightly curled or wilted (do not allow all foliage to wilt-- that means it's highly underwatered!). Humidity appreciated, but not needed. Plant in a well-draining, chunky soil with lots of perlite / pumice and bark! PRO TIP: clean your leaves! A plant laden with dust or grime is unable to photosynthesize as effectively, and thus won't have enough energy to grow more leaves and keep up a strong defense! Mixing a drop or two of dish soap with water is an effective, easy homemade leaf shine.

***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos- but it will be just as beautiful!
