Begonia, Iron Cross
Scientific Name: Begonia masoniana
Common Name: Iron Cross Begonia
Begonias are beloved houseplants, primarily famous for their incredibly unique foliage variations and variegations, from polka dots to fuzzy (or spiky!) leaves. Begonias tend to be slightly high-maintenance, and are generally considered to be a little more advanced of a houseplant, but don't let that stop you from trying!
The Iron Cross Begonia earned its name because of the chocolatey variegation in the center of the lime green leaves. When leaves mature, it bears a distinct resemblance to the Iron Cross that was commonly displayed during the Crusades. The foliage is very bumpy and has fine hairs on the leaves and stems. This is a unique addition to any houseplant collection!
Basic Needs: Medium indirect light. Does not like to be soaking wet, but also cannot handle being dry for extended periods of time. We recommend small, but frequent waterings. PRO TIP: to grow a more evenly bushy begonia, rotate your pot every week so a different side is exposed to light-- this will encourage more even growth from all sides!
***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos. but it will be just as beautiful!
