Scientific Name: Hypoestes phyllostachya
Common Name: Polka Dot Plant, Flamingo Plant, Freckle Face

Polka Dot Plants are originally from Madagascar, South Africa, and Southeast Asia. These easy-to-grow plants are known for their fun, freckly multi-colored foliage that show up in lots of combinations and variegations. They are fairly fast-growing, but indoors usually will stay small and compact, with a maximum height and width of about 2 feet.

Polka Dot Plants have a relatively short life span, somewhere around 2 years when kept indoors. They are used as annuals in many areas, but are only hardy in zones 10-11. They like a lot of bright indirect light, but don't put them in direct sunlight or their leaves will burn. If your Polka Dot Plant gets leggy, it needs more light.

Basic Care: Well-draining potting soil, water when the top 1/2"-1" is dry. Polka Dot Plants don't tolerate drying out very well, so don't let it dry out completely! Bright, indirect light, and additional humidity is appreciated, either misting occasionally or setting plant on a tray of water with rocks on the bottom (so it's not sitting directly in the water but on top of it)

***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos. but it will be just as beautiful! We often have a mixture of colors of Polka Dot Plants, so if you have a specific request, please let us know, otherwise we will pick the prettiest, fluffiest one for you!
