Scientific Name: Anthurium
Common Name: Anthurium, Velvet Cardboard Anthurium, Velvet Anthurium

Anthuriums are a collection of over 1,000 different species that hail from the Caribbean and  Central and South America. Different species within the genus are epiphytic (grow on trees in nature) or terrestrial (grow on the ground). Anthuriums are generally an upright plant, meaning they don't tend to trail or vine and will stay upright as they mature. While the Anthurium Andreanum is one of the most famous Anthuriums, due to its popularity in floral arrangements and gift baskets, there are many others that are great additions to any houseplant collection.

Originally native to Mexico, the Anthurium Clarinervium has become a staple in the world of houseplant collectors, especially those seeking unique and interesting foliage.  Dark green, velvety-soft, and highlighted by crystalline white veins, this plant's heart-shaped leaves are absolute showstoppers!

Basic Care Notes: Bright, indirect light-- avoid direct light! Water when top inch of soil feels dry to the touch-- never let this plant completely dry out. Anthurium clarinervium can be planted in an orchid mix or a 50/50 mix of houseplant and orchid soil. This plant appreciates warm temperatures and high humidity. If your plant is healthy but hasn't rebloomed in a few months, increase the light setting; a gentle houseplant fertilizer can be applied in spring and summer to help promote more blooms!

***Due to the unique nature of plants, the one we carefully choose for you won't look exactly like the photos. but it will be just as beautiful!
