Delightful Spring Flowering Trees


We at Ritters Nursery strive to provide our customers with the finest selection of flowering ornamental trees that are best suited for our specific Inland Empire climate. Here are some blooming ideas to enhance your landscaping:

  • Witch Hazel - Early Season bloomer with fragrant yellow to orange strap like flowers. Small multi stem style grows to 8 feet in height.
  • Star Magnolia - Dwarf 6 to 8 feet. Early spring variety with lots of fragrant white star shaped flowers 3 to 5 inches in size.
  • Saucer Magnolia - Large cupped shaped semi-fragrant blossoms ranging in color from whites to purple tones.
  • Dogwood Trees - Ornamental Dogwoods are one of our oldest variety of specimen trees. They claim recognition all the way to biblical times. Dogwoods as a rule are a small-scale tree growing to appox. 15 to 20 ft. in height depending on variety. They range in flower colors from white to pink (some claim red), as well as a variety of leaf styles. The Dogwoods are also best excellent fall color.
  • Flowering Cherry Trees comprise of the most versatile trees for all around landscape use. To compliment their wide range of bloom colors and forms are their extreme tolerance of soil, wind, and city pollution conditions. The family has the added benefit of a wide range of beautiful fall colors.          Kwansan Cherry - Double pink blossoms in early mid season. Growth is upright with a regular vase shape. Matures at about 20 feet in height. Good street tree.          Mt. Fuji Cherry - Double white blossoms displayed on uniform horizontal branch patterns. Grows to about 20 feet in height.          Snow Fountain Cherry - Small variety of weeping cherry. Blooms start white and fade to pale pink. Good courtyard tree. Dwarf growth to 8 feet.          Pink Subhirtella Weeping Cherry - Prolific double pink blooms on graceful weeping branches. Taller and wider than the counter part "Snow Fountain Cherry".   • The flowering Crabapple Trees comprise a large block of very successful ornamental trees. They have a wide range of flower colors, from whites and to various shades of pinks. Many varieties have fruiting habits. The crabapples also put on a wonderful display of fall colors.          Bechtel Crab - Medium sized round headed tree to 25 feet. Large double fragrant blossoms in mid spring.          Candymint Crab - Slow growing, dense and broad with zigzag branching. Dark green foliage and small pink blossoms in late spring. Tiny red fruit.          Profusion Crab - Multi stem crab tree with a dense growth habit. Blooms dark pink flowers and grows to 12 feet. Great for wildlife.          Radiant Crab - Round headed tree. Fast growing up to 20 feet tall and as wide. Single pink blooms in early spring.          Brandywine Crab - Round headed tree grows to 25 feet in height. It leafs out bronze colored foliage then matures to green . Large double pink blossoms.          Red Jade Weeping Crab - Dark green foliage on long slender weeping branches. Profuse bloomer of white flowers in mid spring. Moderate grower to 10 feet, with bright red fruit.          Sargentina Tabletop Crab - Slow grower, dense with zigzag branching. Fragrant small white blossoms in mid spring and tiny red fruit.
  • Flowering Plum trees - Ornamental plum are one of our earliest spring blooming trees. There are several varieties that have only subtle differences. They all bloom light fragrant pink blossoms followed by their trademark burgundy foliage. Grows 15-18 in height.
  • Cleveland Flowering Pear - Pyramidal growth habit with large white flower clusters in spring. Leaves turn brilliant red in fall. Grows to 20 feet.
  • Forest Pansy Red Bud - Round headed tree to 20 feet in height with horizontally red tiered branches. Pink flowers in spring. New growth is scarlet purple maturing to maroon.
